The family have been growing and producing wines for many generations in Castel S.Pietro Terme, located on the 'Wine Route', bordering plains and hill country at the point where Emilia becomes Romagna. First produced 60 years ago by Luigi Leonardo, now in true family tradition, his son and grandson run the family estate. These noble grape varieties are selected and vinified separately, in individual batches, within their own varieties, each spending a short macceration period to extract tannin and colour and character from the dark and red berry skins. Once the vinification process is complete, the individual wines are blended. This process is as, if not more, important than all that went before it. The blender must ensure that the quality is good and the character is consistent. Stewed red meats and simple cold meat platters such as Parma ham and charcuterie Seriously good, incredibly easy to drink, ripe cherries and berries with soft gentle tannins Fresh, vibrant cherries with hints of spice
